Our History

The Federal Ministry of Education founded the Eko College of Management and Technology (EKOCITY), which was subsequently approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed on the National Brochure of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Graduates of Ekocity receive National Diplomas (ND).

On Saturday, May 4, 2019, the school matriculated its first group of students. The event was graced by the obas of Egbe and Shasha, and significant figures from traditional, professional, and entertainment fields were present. Their arrival provided the traditional blessings that the institution so desperately needed in its formative years before achieving regional, continental, and international prominence. As a result, this is a day to seriously consider.

Uche Anyaemele, a well-known A-class actor who portrayed Richard in the well-known Super Story “No Pain, No Gain” edition, is also among the dignitaries for the day. The presence of Madam Idowu Philips, commonly known as “Mama Rainbow,” was also a blessing. Dr. Femi Hamzat, the freshly elected deputy governor of Lagos State at the time, was expected that day and, while protesting his absence for a variety of reasons, was adequately represented by his aide.

The day would not be complete without mentioning the presence of professional leaders who came to share in our joy with us. The CEO of popular FinTech company, Ren Money, was also around. Your popular Boy Alinco was also around. He was the music compere (MC) of the day. Now you know what that means. The day was packed with activities and fun.

The lecture is the next and most crucial section. Prof. Shokefun of the geography department of Lagos State University (LASU) gave the speech. The topic was “Oil and entrepreneurship: The foundation of nation-building.” It is not an exaggeration to suggest that you missed the day.

Further, we launched the students into additional courses prior to their first semester assessment since they had matriculated and were now considered legitimate students at the university. Well, your guess was correct. They were quizzed repeatedly on topics related to their areas of study. Here at Ekocity, we recognize that thorough examination is essential to the caliber of graduates we generate, which is why we maintain an examination method that is up to date. In reality, we have a separate office just for exams called the Examinations Office, and an Exams Officer comes to check all exam processes and procedures and verify that they are satisfactory before any exams are given. In actuality, nation-building is where we are headed.

We would sum up our history with the following phrase: We have a long history of quality, a very solid present, and, of course, a very promising future ahead of us. And since we are here in the here and now, why don’t you join us as we build on it to prepare for the bright future that lies ahead?
